Separate Direct Play from remux and transcoding, then note where media lives and whether remote users share the same upload link. Buy faster storage when the database or transcode path stalls; buy faster networking when measured transfers or concurrent backups saturate the existing link. Skip the upgrade when clients Direct Play and the current path passes the peak workload. Keep a separate recovery route before spending on bandwidth.
