eigenfocus hardware requirements at a glance
Size eigenfocus from verified upstream requirements first, then add headroom for workload and persistent data.
- RAM
- About 1 GB for normal self-hosting
- CPU
- No numerical official CPU minimum published
- Storage
- SQLite database + attachment storage + backups
- Database
- SQLite only
- Docker
- Single container; port 3000 internally
- Best Zima starting point
- ZimaBoard 2 832
From official requirements to the right setup
Start with current upstream facts for eigenfocus, then size the real workload rather than copying generic container or app-store labels.

Official minimum requirements
Eigenfocus publishes practical resource guidance rather than a strict hard minimum.
The project's current self-hosting material says a normal deployment runs on about 1 GB RAM and uses a single SQLite file with no PostgreSQL or Redis services.
| Requirement | Official minimum | What this supports |
|---|---|---|
| About 1 GB | Project blog says the single-container app runs on about 1 GB. | |
| No numerical minimum published | Project-management workload is light. | |
| SQLite | Project data is stored in eigenfocus.db. | |
| eigenfocus/eigenfocus | README shows a single-container deployment. | |
| 3000 internal | Example maps 3001:3000. | |
| app-data / SQLite + storage attachments | Back up DB and storage folder. | |
| Not required | No GPU workload. |
When to upgrade your hardware
Attachment growth
Many active users
Shared-host pressure
Plan hardware growth with confidence
SSD app-data
Keep SQLite and attachments on reliable SSD.
SSDMore RAM
Useful only for larger teams or shared hosts.
ZimaBoard 2 1664Attachment capacity
Expand storage for uploads/backups.
ZimaCube storageBackup automation
Copy SQLite + storage consistently and test restores.
Backup targetCan it run on ZimaOS?
Custom install eigenfocus in ZimaOS
No specific public ZimaOS per-app page was verified, so use Custom Install.
Custom install eigenfocus in the ZimaOS app ↗Use the official single-container deployment
Upstream documents eigenfocus/eigenfocus and a persistent app-data mount.
Open eigenfocus repository ↗Back up SQLite and attachments together
Project guidance identifies eigenfocus.db plus storage/ as the essential persistent data.
Open eigenfocus SQLite guide ↗Zima hardware for eigenfocus
Eigenfocus is one of the lightest apps in this batch because it avoids separate PostgreSQL/Redis services.
Choose by workload
Use ZimaBoard 2 832 and persistent SSD storage.
Scale only if the combined workload warrants it.
ZimaBoard 2 832 is already far above Eigenfocus's roughly 1 GB practical RAM guidance.
| Zima hardware | Best for | Example workload | Core configuration | Recommended boundary | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZimaBoard 2 832 | Light self-hosted services and small databases | Single-app or small multi-app workloads |
|
8 GB RAM can limit larger CRM, mail, database, or platform stacks | Get Now |
| ZimaBoard 2 1664 | Memory-heavier self-hosted services | Moderate multi-container and database workloads |
|
CPU remains the 4-core N150, so heavy build/search/CRM workloads can still be CPU-limited | Get Now |

Zima Blade Little yet Powerful
Maybe I am not digital natives but I live with PCs since 12 years old in 1984 when IBM PC clone come to my home. Many years have passed and many operating system I've tried. For me Zima blade and CasaOS was a quantum leap for home PC enthusiast and server lab machine to make me stay curious and relevant for this era.
Very good!!
I use ZimaCube Pro as 5th Proxmox cluster node. It runs several VMs and containers, including a VM with GPU passthrough to run a self-hosted LLM. A specific LXC container runs a Samba server for NAS capabilities using four of six RAID 6 SATA HDDs with ZFS.
Great innovation for mini server!
It is very useful and makes a powerful mini server for many purposes, including university and college students in engineering and electronics. Thank you so much for making this server.
