If ZimaOS already shows the Plus badge in General Settings, there is nothing else to activate on that device. That was the answer in the September 2025 source: the user had upgraded from ZimaOS 1.4 to 1.5 during IceWhale's community migration program, so Plus had already been granted automatically and the separately purchased code could be saved for another eligible device or handled with support.
That historical free-upgrade program is no longer the general activation rule. IceWhale kept the pre-1.5 community entitlement window open until June 30, 2026. Current ZimaOS pricing now lists Plus as a $29 lifetime license for non-official hardware, while official Zima devices receive automatic lifetime Plus tied to the device.
If Settings Already Says Plus, Do Not Redeem Another Code on the Same Device
The source confusion came from looking for “Get Plus” while the device was already in Plus state. Current licensing is device-bound, so first confirm whether the current device already has Plus before attempting to consume another license.
Current Plus Is a $29 Lifetime License
IceWhale's current pricing page says Plus is lifetime rather than subscription-based and is aimed at family/small-team setups needing higher storage/member limits and related Plus features.
Use the current ZimaOS Plus pricing rules.
Official Zima Hardware Activates Plus Automatically
Current IceWhale pricing says Plus benefits on official Zima devices are automatic and lifetime, bound to that official device even after reinstall.
A Purchased License Is Bound to One Device
For other systems, one Plus license can be active on one device at a time. IceWhale says the license can be transferred when replacing/upgrading hardware through the supported transfer process.
The 1.4-to-1.5 Free Upgrade Was a Historical Community Benefit
IceWhale's 1.5 commitment said users who had used ZimaOS before 1.5 could receive Plus automatically if they completed the eligible upgrade during the benefit window. The deadline was June 30, 2026.
Do not tell a new September 2026 installation that upgrading from an old image will still automatically create a free entitlement.
When Community Edition Shows Get Plus
Historical IceWhale guidance for Community Edition was to open the Plus/Get Plus option, choose the path indicating you already have a code, and enter the activation code. If the current UI instead sends you to pricing or the entitlement state is inconsistent, collect screenshots and contact IceWhale support rather than repeatedly reinstalling.
ZimaOS Plus FAQ
Why did the 2025 source user have no place to enter their purchased code?
The device already showed Plus because the historical 1.4-to-1.5 migration had automatically activated it.
Is the old free community-upgrade window still open?
No. IceWhale documented June 30, 2026 as the end of that benefit window.
Is current Plus a subscription?
No. IceWhale's current pricing page describes it as a lifetime license.
