Wiki.js requirements at a glance
Wiki.js is a lightweight Node.js wiki whose database and uploaded assets matter more than the application binary.
- RAM
- No numerical official whole-host RAM minimum published.
- CPU
- No numerical official core minimum. Concurrent editors, search and rendering determine practical load.
- Stable release line
- Wiki.js 2.5 is currently recommended for production installations.
- Runtime
- Stable 2.x requires Node.js 18.x or newer.
- Database
- Stable 2.x supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MSSQL and SQLite3; PostgreSQL is the recommended database path.
- Best Zima starting point
- ZimaBoard 2 832 is ample for a small or medium Wiki.js deployment with SSD-backed PostgreSQL.
From official requirements to the right setup
Size Wiki.js from the database, users and file content rather than a fabricated application minimum.
-
Official requirements
Use stable Wiki.js 2.5 for production and Node.js 18+ if installing outside the official container.
-
Confirm your needs
Prefer PostgreSQL for production; SQLite is better suited to low-end/development use according to the Wiki.js configuration docs.
-
Leave room to grow
Persist the database and plan separate storage for uploaded assets, backups and any external storage modules.
-
Run it on ZimaOS
On ZimaOS, use Install Custom App with ghcr.io/requarks/wiki:2 or requarks/wiki:2 plus PostgreSQL, persist DB data and map container port 3000 behind HTTPS.

Official minimum requirements
Wiki.js publishes runtime and database requirements but no numerical host hardware table.
Do not invent a RAM/core minimum. Stable Wiki.js 2.5 is recommended for production, with Node.js 18+ and a supported database; PostgreSQL is the preferred production choice.
| Requirement | Official minimum | What this supports |
|---|---|---|
| RAM minimum | No numerical official minimum published | Depends on database, users and content. |
| CPU minimum | No numerical official minimum published | Concurrent usage drives practical demand. |
| Stable production line | Wiki.js 2.5 | Currently recommended for production. |
| Node.js | 18.x+ | Stable 2.x requirement. |
| Databases | PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, MSSQL or SQLite3 | Stable 2.x supported engines. |
| Official Compose example | PostgreSQL 15 + Wiki.js 2 | Current repository example. |
When to upgrade your hardware
Wiki.js should scale when database activity, search or file content grows.
More concurrent editors and readers
Database/search history grows
Uploads and backups expand
More pages, revisions and search data increase database cache and I/O.
Long-running wikis.Images, documents and backup retention can dominate storage.
Media-heavy documentation sites.Plan hardware growth with confidence
Scale Wiki.js around PostgreSQL and persistent content.
Use SSD-backed PostgreSQL storage
Fast durable storage improves page operations, search and backups.
Use SATA/NVMe with ZimaBoard 2.Use ZimaBoard 2 832 for normal wikis
8 GB and four cores provide ample practical headroom for Wiki.js plus PostgreSQL.
ZimaBoard 2 832.Use 16 GB for larger teams or many co-hosted apps
Extra RAM benefits PostgreSQL cache and the wider host.
ZimaBoard 2 1664.Use ZimaCube when files and backups dominate
Large assets and long backup retention may justify multi-drive storage.
ZimaCube 2 Standard. Can it run on ZimaOS?
No public official ZimaOS one-click Wiki.js App Store detail page was verified for this guide. Wiki.js can be deployed through Install Custom App using the official Wiki.js 2 container.
Custom install Wiki.js in ZimaOS
Use Install Custom App with ghcr.io/requarks/wiki:2 and PostgreSQL, persist the database, and expose port 3000 through HTTPS.

Zima Blade Little yet Powerful
Maybe I am not digital natives but I live with PCs since 12 years old in 1984 when IBM PC clone come to my home. Many years have passed and many operating system I've tried. For me Zima blade and CasaOS was a quantum leap for home PC enthusiast and server lab machine to make me stay curious and relevant for this era.
Very good!!
I use ZimaCube Pro as 5th Proxmox cluster node. It runs several VMs and containers, including a VM with GPU passthrough to run a self-hosted LLM. A specific LXC container runs a Samba server for NAS capabilities using four of six RAID 6 SATA HDDs with ZFS.
Great innovation for mini server!
It is very useful and makes a powerful mini server for many purposes, including university and college students in engineering and electronics. Thank you so much for making this server.
