I built a NAS server with RAID 1 on my ZimaBoard 2 to store important data. At the same time, I use it as a small Docker lab for running and testing services. It works perfectly as both storage and a compact home server.
I have the 16GB RAM version. The system is stable, completely silent, and fast. I upgraded my network to 2.5G and enabled jumbo frames, which improved transfer performance. With two WD Red NAS drives, transfer speeds are excellent and consistent.
Power consumption is very low at 12V 3A. I connected it to the same UPS as my router, and it handles power outages without any issues.
What impressed me most is the silence, speed, and flexibility. The two network ports are useful, and the PCIe slot gives room for future upgrades. Setup was simple and smooth.
ZimaOS is user friendly and easy even for beginners. Compared to traditional NAS systems, the ZimaBoard is much smaller and more portable while still delivering strong performance.
One important thing to know is that data is not encrypted by default, so users who need encryption should set it up separately.
Overall, it is a compact, efficient, and reliable solution for NAS and home lab use.

sturdy and effective
Received everything requested. Shipping took a little longer than expected. Delivery to Italy. I set up the device, connected it to the local network and accessed the control panel. Created RAID 1 with two 12 TB hard drives. Shared the storage folder and created a mapped folder on the PC. Everything is working properly in just a few minutes. Excellent product. Thank you.
