Planen Sie Active-Collab-Hardware für RAM, CPU, MySQL, optional Elasticsearch und Anhänge sowie praktische Empfehlungen für die Bereitstellung unter ZimaOS.
Active Collab hardware requirements at a glance
Size Active Collab from verified upstream requirements first, then add headroom for workload and persistent data.
- RAM
- No numerical official minimum published
- CPU
- No numerical official minimum published
- Storage
- Application files + MySQL data + uploads/thumbnails/logs/backups
- Runtime
- PHP 8.1+ with required extensions
- Database / Search
- MySQL 5.7.x or MariaDB 10.5.x; Elasticsearch 6.x + Java optional for search

Official minimum requirements
Active Collab publishes detailed software/database/search requirements but no numerical whole-host CPU, RAM, or disk minimum.
Do not turn PHP requirements or Elasticsearch presence into an invented server minimum. Whole-host sizing must include MySQL, optional search, PHP concurrency, uploads, background jobs, and backups.
| Requirement | Official minimum | What this supports |
|---|---|---|
| No numerical official minimum published | Depends on users, reports, PHP workers, and database/search load. | |
| No numerical official minimum published | Must include PHP, MySQL, and optional Elasticsearch/Java. | |
| PHP 8.1 or newer | Required extensions are listed by Active Collab. | |
| MySQL 5.7.x or MariaDB 10.5.x | InnoDB and UTF8MB4 required. | |
| Elasticsearch 6.x + Java | Required for search, but Active Collab can work without it. | |
| Nginx or Apache with PHP support | Apache requires mod_rewrite; required HTTP methods must be enabled. | |
| Not required | No GPU workload. |

Plan hardware growth with confidence
SSD MySQL storage
Keep MySQL and application state on SSD.
SSD/NVMeMore RAM
Useful when MySQL cache, PHP workers, and Elasticsearch share the host.
ZimaBoard 2 1664Attachment capacity
Expand storage for uploads, thumbnails, logs, and backups.
ZimaCube 2 StandardHigher CPU for larger teams
Use stronger CPU for more concurrent users, reports, and search/database work.

Custom install Active Collab in ZimaOS
No specific public official ZimaOS App Store page was verified, so the SOP requires the Custom Install route.
Custom install Active Collab in the ZimaOS app ↗Meet Active Collab's exact PHP/database requirements
The installer checks PHP extensions, MySQL/MariaDB, permissions, and web-server behavior.
Open Active Collab system requirements ↗Treat Elasticsearch as optional but resource-heavy
Search requires Elasticsearch 6.x and Java; Active Collab can operate without it.

Active Collab is a SQL/business application. Size MySQL, attachments, background jobs, and optional Elasticsearch rather than focusing on the PHP UI alone.
Choose by workload
ZimaBoard 2 832 is a practical starting point with SSD-backed MySQL storage.
MySQL, PHP concurrency, and Elasticsearch make RAM/CPU more important.
No numerical server minimum is invented because upstream publishes software requirements rather than a whole-host CPU/RAM floor.
| Zima hardware | Best for | Example workload | Core configuration | Recommended boundary | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZimaBoard 2 832 | Light self-hosted services and small databases | Single-app or small multi-app deployments |
|
8 GB RAM and a 4-core N150 limit larger databases, AI stacks, and heavy multi-service workloads | Get Now |
| ZimaBoard 2 1664 | Memory-heavier services and larger multi-container stacks | Workloads that benefit from 16 GB RAM without needing a much faster CPU |
|
CPU throughput remains the same 4-core N150, so compute-heavy workloads can still be CPU-limited | Get Now |
| ZimaCube 2 Standard | Storage-heavy media, archives, logs, attachments, and backups | Workloads where drive bays and capacity matter more than peak CPU throughput |
|
8 GB RAM can be less suitable than ZimaBoard 2 1664 for memory-heavy applications | Get Now |
| ZimaCube 2 Pro | CPU-heavier, database-heavier, and higher-concurrency workloads | Larger SQL/search workloads, many users, or broader server consolidation |
|
16 GB RAM can still constrain very large AI or enterprise workloads | Get Now |

Zima Blade Little yet Powerful
Maybe I am not digital natives but I live with PCs since 12 years old in 1984 when IBM PC clone come to my home. Many years have passed and many operating system I've tried. For me Zima blade and CasaOS was a quantum leap for home PC enthusiast and server lab machine to make me stay curious and relevant for this era.
Very good!!
I use ZimaCube Pro as 5th Proxmox cluster node. It runs several VMs and containers, including a VM with GPU passthrough to run a self-hosted LLM. A specific LXC container runs a Samba server for NAS capabilities using four of six RAID 6 SATA HDDs with ZFS.
Great innovation for mini server!
It is very useful and makes a powerful mini server for many purposes, including university and college students in engineering and electronics. Thank you so much for making this server.
Frequently asked questions
How much RAM does Active Collab need?
Upstream does not publish a numerical whole-host RAM minimum.
Which PHP version is required?
The current self-hosted requirements specify PHP 8.1 or newer.
Which database does Active Collab require?
MySQL 5.7.x or MariaDB 10.5.x with InnoDB and UTF8MB4.
Is Elasticsearch required?
Only for search. Active Collab can operate without Elasticsearch.
Does search add extra hardware demand?
Yes. Elasticsearch 6.x and Java add memory, CPU, and storage overhead.
Can ZimaBoard 2 832 run Active Collab?
It is a practical small-team starting point when search is disabled and MySQL is on SSD.
Does Active Collab need a GPU?
No.
When should I choose ZimaCube 2 Pro?
For larger teams, higher database/report concurrency, or search-enabled deployments.
