From official requirements to the right setup

Size SiYuan around the persistent workspace and the wider host rather than inventing a fixed server minimum.

  1. Official requirements

    Use the official b3log/siyuan image and persist a dedicated workspace directory. Upstream does not publish numerical CPU/RAM minimums for the Docker server.

  2. Confirm your needs

    Estimate workspace size, attachments and indexing/search usage. Notes themselves are small, but images, PDFs and other assets can drive storage growth.

  3. Leave room to grow

    Set PUID/PGID so the container can read and write the mounted workspace correctly, and configure a non-default access authentication code before remote exposure.

  4. Run it on ZimaOS

    On ZimaOS, use Install Custom App, map port 6806, persist /siyuan/workspace, add HTTPS/WebSocket proxying for remote access, and monitor workspace backups.

When to upgrade your hardware

SiYuan rarely needs aggressive hardware scaling; storage growth and whole-host contention are the usual reasons to upgrade.

More RAM is most useful when SiYuan shares the host with databases, AI tools or many other containers.

SiYuan Note is not currently confirmed as a public one-click ZimaOS App Store page in the sources checked for this guide. It can still be deployed cleanly through ZimaOS Install Custom App using the official SiYuan Docker image.
