Official minimum requirements
GameVault publishes deployment and database requirements but no numerical whole-host CPU, RAM, or disk minimum.
Do not invent a host minimum. Size primarily for game-library capacity, PostgreSQL, scan/metadata work, and concurrent clients.
| Requirement | Official minimum | What this supports |
|---|---|---|
| No numerical minimum published | Scanning and metadata workload dependent. | |
| No numerical minimum published | Backend + PostgreSQL + shared-host load. | |
| phalcode/gamevault-backend:latest | Current Compose image. | |
| PostgreSQL 16+ recommended | SQLite supported but not recommended. | |
| 8080 | Backend and built-in web UI. | |
| /files, /media, PostgreSQL data | Games, media, and DB must be durable. | |
| Not required | No GPU server workload documented. |
When to upgrade your hardware
Game-library growth
Scan/metadata pressure
More clients
Plan hardware growth with confidence
SSD database/media
Keep PostgreSQL and media metadata on SSD.
SSD/NVMeMore RAM
Useful for larger DB and shared-host services.
ZimaBoard 2 1664Large game archive
Use multi-bay HDD/SSD storage for /files.
ZimaCube 2 StandardStronger CPU/network
Useful for larger scans and concurrent downloads.
ZimaCube 2 ProCan it run on ZimaOS?
Custom install GameVault in ZimaOS
No specific public official ZimaOS per-app page was verified; community-store listings are not treated as official one-click evidence.
Custom install GameVault in the ZimaOS app ↗Use the official GameVault Compose topology
Run the backend with PostgreSQL and separate /files, /media, and database storage.
Open GameVault Docker Compose docs ↗Keep multiple game disks under /files
GameVault supports mapping multiple host volumes under the unified /files tree.
Open GameVault storage structure docs ↗Zima hardware for GameVault
GameVault itself is moderate; the game archive and storage/network throughput dominate hardware growth.
Choose by workload
ZimaBoard 2 832 with SATA storage is sufficient.
Drive bays and network throughput become more important.
Community ZimaOS/CasaOS app-store availability is not accepted as official one-click evidence under the SOP.
| Zima hardware | Best for | Example workload | Core configuration | Recommended boundary | Next step |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ZimaBoard 2 832 | Light self-hosted services and small databases | Single-app or small multi-app deployments |
|
8 GB RAM can limit larger Java/database/collaboration stacks | Get Now |
| ZimaBoard 2 1664 | Memory-heavier services and larger small-team apps | Moderate multi-container and database workloads |
|
CPU remains the 4-core N150, so heavier Java/indexing workloads can still be CPU-limited | Get Now |
| ZimaCube 2 Standard | Storage-heavy game libraries, files, attachments, and backups | Large persistent datasets |
|
8 GB RAM may be insufficient for heavier Java/database stacks | Get Now |
| ZimaCube 2 Pro | CPU-heavy, database-heavy, and higher-concurrency services | Jira, larger helpdesk/collaboration stacks, and heavier indexing |
|
16 GB RAM can still be low for large enterprise Jira deployments | Get Now |

Zima Blade Little yet Powerful
Maybe I am not digital natives but I live with PCs since 12 years old in 1984 when IBM PC clone come to my home. Many years have passed and many operating system I've tried. For me Zima blade and CasaOS was a quantum leap for home PC enthusiast and server lab machine to make me stay curious and relevant for this era.
Very good!!
I use ZimaCube Pro as 5th Proxmox cluster node. It runs several VMs and containers, including a VM with GPU passthrough to run a self-hosted LLM. A specific LXC container runs a Samba server for NAS capabilities using four of six RAID 6 SATA HDDs with ZFS.
Great innovation for mini server!
It is very useful and makes a powerful mini server for many purposes, including university and college students in engineering and electronics. Thank you so much for making this server.
