Saved webpage content and thumbnails can become much larger than bookmark metadata.
Users archiving many full pages.Shiori Hardware Requirements: RAM, CPU, Database & Archive Storage
Plan Shiori hardware for RAM, CPU, SQLite or SQL databases, archived pages and thumbnails, with practical ZimaOS custom-install recommendations.
Shiori requirements at a glance
Shiori is intentionally lightweight and defaults to SQLite, but offline page archives can grow much faster than the app itself.
- RAM
- No numerical official RAM minimum published. The single-binary application is lightweight for normal bookmark use.
- CPU
- No numerical official core minimum. Importing bookmarks, scraping readable content and generating archives create the main CPU bursts.
- Database
- SQLite is the default. Shiori also supports PostgreSQL, MariaDB and MySQL.
- Storage
- No universal official minimum. The persistent Shiori directory stores database data, thumbnails and offline webpage archives.
- Docker
- Official GHCR images are available and current packages cover amd64, arm64 and arm/v7 among supported architectures.
- Best Zima starting point
- ZimaBoard 2 832 is far more than enough for Shiori itself; storage size matters only when large offline archives accumulate.
From official requirements to the right setup
Size Shiori around archive retention and database choice rather than compute.
-
Official requirements
Use the official ghcr.io/go-shiori/shiori image or precompiled binary and persist the Shiori data directory.
-
Confirm your needs
Keep SQLite for the simplest setup unless you specifically need PostgreSQL, MariaDB or MySQL.
-
Leave room to grow
Estimate offline archive and thumbnail growth. Shiori saves readable content where possible, so storage can grow far beyond the bookmark metadata.
-
Run it on ZimaOS
On ZimaOS, use Install Custom App with the official image, persist the data directory, expose port 8080 and keep archive storage on durable media.

Official minimum requirements
Shiori documents supported deployment methods, databases and persistent data paths but no numerical server hardware minimum.
Do not invent a RAM or CPU floor. Core Shiori is lightweight; the meaningful growth variable is archived webpage content and thumbnails.
| Requirement | Official minimum | What this supports |
|---|---|---|
| RAM minimum | No numerical official minimum published | Core application is a lightweight Go binary. |
| CPU minimum | No numerical official minimum published | Archive generation and imports create bursts. |
| Default database | SQLite | Used automatically when no other database is configured. |
| Other databases | PostgreSQL, MariaDB and MySQL | Supported by the current project. |
| Container port | 8080 | Current official Docker examples. |
| Persistent data | Database, thumbnails and archives | Stored in the configured Shiori data directory. |
When to upgrade your hardware
Shiori rarely needs more CPU/RAM by itself; scale when archive storage or the wider server stack grows.
Offline archive storage grows quickly
Large imports create processing bursts
Many other apps share the host
Bulk bookmark imports and content scraping can temporarily increase CPU and I/O.
Users migrating large bookmark collections.Shiori may remain light while the overall ZimaOS stack consumes RAM and storage.
All-in-one home servers.Plan hardware growth with confidence
Scale Shiori around archive persistence rather than application compute.
Keep standard deployments on ZimaBoard 2 832
8 GB and four cores are far above Shiori's practical needs.
ZimaBoard 2 832.Put Shiori data on SSD-backed storage
Fast durable storage helps large imports and archive browsing.
Use SATA/NVMe with ZimaBoard 2.Use 16 GB only for a broader app stack
Extra memory is useful for other containers, not Shiori itself.
ZimaBoard 2 1664.Use ZimaCube for very large archive retention
Long-term offline webpage archives may justify larger storage capacity.
ZimaCube 2 Standard. Can it run on ZimaOS?
No public official ZimaOS one-click Shiori App Store page was verified for this guide. Shiori can be deployed through Install Custom App using its official GHCR image.
Custom install Shiori in ZimaOS
Use Install Custom App with ghcr.io/go-shiori/shiori, persist the Shiori data directory and map container port 8080 to an available host port.
Custom install Shiori in the ZimaOS app ↗Use Shiori's official Docker image
Shiori officially supports Docker deployment and publishes images through GHCR.
Review Shiori installation ↗Persist archives and thumbnails
The official usage guide notes that the data directory contains the database, thumbnails and offline archive content.
Review Shiori Docker usage ↗Choose Zima hardware for Shiori
Shiori is extremely lightweight; hardware choice should be driven by archive retention and other services on the host.
Is this a normal bookmark manager or a very large offline webpage archive?
Use the smallest current ZimaBoard 2 and persist the data directory.

Zima Blade Little yet Powerful
Maybe I am not digital natives but I live with PCs since 12 years old in 1984 when IBM PC clone come to my home. Many years have passed and many operating system I've tried. For me Zima blade and CasaOS was a quantum leap for home PC enthusiast and server lab machine to make me stay curious and relevant for this era.
Very good!!
I use ZimaCube Pro as 5th Proxmox cluster node. It runs several VMs and containers, including a VM with GPU passthrough to run a self-hosted LLM. A specific LXC container runs a Samba server for NAS capabilities using four of six RAID 6 SATA HDDs with ZFS.
Great innovation for mini server!
It is very useful and makes a powerful mini server for many purposes, including university and college students in engineering and electronics. Thank you so much for making this server.
