So much fun with Zimaboard2
Since receiving the new Zimaboard2 I have done so much much, I’ve installed many Linux Distros and reinstalled ZimaOS. The PCI have been great, I’ve docked a GPU to play with AI models. Exploring docker containers, have been helpful to decide which application to adopt in my homelab. Thank you, IceWhale Team to make this happen.
Do it all selfhosting/homelab Single Board Server
Used to run my selfhosted services with docker on my Synology NAS for years and decided I needed more powerful and dedicated hardware for this purpose with lower power consumption...
Now my Zimaboard 2 (with 2TB 3.5" SATA HDD and 250GB 2.5" SATA SSD) is running my password manager, mediacenter, local DNS + adblocker, home assistant (fully managed in ZVM) and is much snappier than my 8 years old NAS and with very low power budget compared to my NAS.
Home Assistant and password manager are made available externally with cloudflare tunnel (cloudflared docker container).
Every container managed as stack in portainer (installed from the Zima appstore). Perfect selfhosting device for me ... poweful but power efficient.
Not a single second of regret, would buy again (to build a cluster?).
Amazing device!
I had a Zimaboard 1 that I used to create a NAS leveraging 2 hard drives giving me 14TB of storage. I use plex to stream movies directly from the NAS. I recently got the zimaboard 2. I copied the same setup as my zimaboard 1. I am amazed as now I find streaming to be slot faster. I also like the UI of zimaos. I’m able to troubleshoot issues through my iPhone now!
I highly recommend the product as well as the vendor!
An excellent sequel to one of the most user-friendly hackable SBCs in the market
A brilliant follow up to the original ZimaBoard that provides a much more modern (& powerful) CPU with an upgraded PCIe slot (2.0 to 3.0), that opens up a lot more home-lab opportunities.
Able to run VMs, Backup, Plex & Immich services much faster and more efficiently when compared to the previous gen; and all of this in a similar small & portable footprint.
Highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get in to the world of Home Lab setups, at a very affordable price point.

I never had a local network nor a NAS and I put it together fairly easy. Received it in timely manner (about 10days). Works great for NAS, video and music over a local network. A bit sluggish with heavy apps on the local network. I wish I'd bought the 1664 instead of 832. Double the memory and EMMC. You cannot even buy a cell phone on eBay or Amazon for the price. I’m learning a lot about networking, docker, and local IP connectivity and I really like CasaOS. I’m 70 years old and just now coming to the tech party. I didn’t trust you before but now I do.
Great tool for everyday use
I built a NAS server with RAID 1 on my ZimaBoard 2 to store important data. At the same time, I use it as a small Docker lab for running and testing services. It works perfectly as both storage and a compact home server.
I have the 16GB RAM version. The system is stable, completely silent, and fast. I upgraded my network to 2.5G and enabled jumbo frames, which improved transfer performance. With two WD Red NAS drives, transfer speeds are excellent and consistent.
Power consumption is very low at 12V 3A. I connected it to the same UPS as my router, and it handles power outages without any issues.
What impressed me most is the silence, speed, and flexibility. The two network ports are useful, and the PCIe slot gives room for future upgrades. Setup was simple and smooth.
ZimaCube Pro - Exceeds Expectations!!!
After spending some time setting up and testing my home lab, I can confidently say the ZimaCube Pro has been an outstanding investment. I configured it to run a Proxmox server with six 20TB hard drives, hosting a pfSense firewall, a Samba Active Directory controller, Pi-hole, and TrueNAS, all running smoothly and reliably.
The ZimaCube Pro's compact, space-efficient design combined with its impressive expandability offers the perfect blend of form and function. It delivers powerful performance in a clean, minimalist chassis, and handles everything I throw at it with ease. From virtual machines to storage and network services, it's simply an amazing platform.
A robust yet simple NAS solution
There are only two purchases I have made that make me happy every day, one is my LG ultrawide display, and the other is the ZimaBlade, what a beautiful thing, with Proxmox I have AdGuard, Ngix Proxy Manager, Jellyfin with hardware acceleration, Docker, Nextcloud AIO, Immich, of course a Samba share for the NAS, and two web services, one with node and the other with Apache+PHP, I cannot ask for more.
Zimablade 3760
I took a while to write this review until after I stress tested and I have to say that I'm impressed. Not only does it make for an excellent 2bay nas but also runs everything I wanted perfectly through proxmox, to be fair this isn't written out of the box though I added a ripjaws and also a samsung ssd through pcie. The casaos installed on emmc I flashed ubuntu to for when I want to use the pcie slot for other things, such as to hook up coral for tokenized machine learning, etc. I can honestly say that I prefer my Zimablade over my rpi5 8gb. This is definitely a great product that more people should add to their arsenal.
Zima Blade Little yet Powerful
Maybe I am not digital natives but I live with PC's since 12 years old in 1984 when IBM PC clone come to my home. Many years have passed and many operating system I've tried. For me Zima blade and Casaos was a quantum leap for home PC enthusiast and server lab machine to make me stay curious and relevant for this era.

I use zimacube pro as 5th Proxmox cluster node, tu run several VM and container, including VM with GPU passthrough to run LLM self hosted. Specific LXC container run samba server for NAS capabilities using 4 of 6 RAID 6 SATA HDD with ZFS.
Great innovation for mini server!
It is very useful and make a very powerful mini server which is uses many purpose like University and college students, engineering students, electronic and electronics students, B.tech engineering students and also M.tech and M.Sc students also use this mini Ness server like zima blade 7700 server thank you, thank you so much thank for making this server, so much again zima space and icewhale team.
