I use zimacubepro as 5th Proxmox cluster node, tu run several VM and container, including VM with GPU passthrough to run LLM self hosted. Specific LXC container run samba server for NAS capabilities using 4 of 6 RAID 6 SATA HDD with ZFS. ZimaOS still there but not used right now.

The Pro Version is a nice piece of technology. I already have a self build NAS and wanted to try a bare bone system. The ZimaCube replaces an old QNAP NAS which went EOL. Well you just have to add disks and do some tweaking if you want. Since ZimaCube supports a wide range of OS, I’ve chosen to run Proxmox on the system with TrueNAS Core in a VM. Pass through of the disc controller works without issues. Since i wanted to add more VMs i took the Pro Version wich comes with enough RAM for Virtualization and a 10Gbit Interface on board. And you can add two low profile pci cards. Speed of these is limited but fast enough for the possible needs. Building quality of the system is great. With the new cooler, which is shipped with the system, the cpu stays cool. One thing that still can be improved is the cooling, You can easy add more fans and replace the pre installed with low noise models, if the system should be running in your office or living room. Especially the CPU fan is a bit noisy. I use the system with 6 disks from my old NAS, 4 NVME SSD for VMs and with the optional Dual NVME Controller, which i use for NAS caching. With my setup i get full 10GbE speed from the ZimaCube. The system works like a charm and is a good option for people who like to setup individual NAS systems or have a need for a home or multimedia server. You can also add a low profile gpu for transcoding, another network interface for redundancy or another NVME card to add up to 8 NVME to the system.
And finally it just looks good. The alternative front grille looks great too.

ZimaCube Pro Personal Cloud (In Stock)

It's a great product and overall happy with my purchase but it does fall short in a few minor ways like poor fan noise, lack of support for wake on lan for the non pro model, lack of RTC alarm or really any remote power on (there is a jumper on the board for power on on AC restoration which i use with a remote power switch). Having resolved both of those needs myself however the result is exactly what I wanted, a nice compact pair (pro and not) of boxes with easy accessible bays and a good base system and hardware behind it.
